The Personal Infrared Transmitter (PIT) is to be used by staff to activate the system and can be used to activate either 1 level of call (Emergency) or 2 levels of call (eg, Emergency + Assistance) depending on the model of the PIT.
These should be worn at all times by staff. The PIT should be attached to the belt or to some other suitable part of clothing by a ‘dog lead’ hook, leather strap or a standard nurses/waistband clip to allow for easy access. The standard case is black but these are available in a variety of colours.
Depending on the type of PIT, activation is by either pressing the button on the base of the PIT or by pulling the PIT from its retaining pin. Pulling the pit from the retaining pin will activate an Emergency level of call, whereas pressing the button will activate its secondary feature. These are as follows and relate to the type of Perpetual PIT that has been purchased:
Single Code
Twin Code
Other
- Emergency Pull with NO Assistance Push
- Emergency Pull with Emergency Button
- Emergency Pull with Assistance Button- Emergency Pull with Test/Reset Button
When the PIT has been pulled from its retaining pin in an emergency situation, infrared light is immediately spread upwards towards the receiver unit in the room. Therefore there is no need to point the PIT directly at the receiver units for the alarm to trigger.
Personalised printing on the PIT case is available on request.
